Preview of KDE 4.1

Here is a very nice article that review new features of KDE development version 4.1. There are so many news and so many enchantments over 4.0 version that that is simply astonishing. It seams that version 4.1 is already very stable. I sure hopes that when it arrive we can all say goodbye to god all KDE 3.5 :))

There are certainly not many Linux viruses (at least compared to Windows platform) but it seems that Linux viruses have very long life. After 6 years Rst-B is still active and not only that, it also is responsible for infecting of 70% of Linux servers:

KDE 4.0 is here

Well folks here it is finally new KDE is arrived. There are so many and nice features that I would need pages to describe them all... so better take a look to KDE Visual Guide.

Yesterday KDE team released last release candidate RC2 of a new KDE 4.0, so I can't wait 11 January for release of stable version. I didn't yet test RC candidates (don't have free time) but just looking to screen shots,

While browsing Pardus main site for finding more info about this nice distro I stumble on very nice blog post "About security ninjas" :)

What is a security ninja? Well, hard to define them actually. They are superior beings that are able to handle huge armies of bugs single-handedly.

Kubuntu and Samba

Today I tried to connect my two boxes (one Windows XP and one Kubuntu) over Samba. Eh.... (Note that on same Kubuntu box I have also installed Windows, and sharing files and printers worked without any problems with two Windows machines). I started "System settings" in Kubuntu and tried to start File sharing - error window popped up with a message saying that I do not have installed SMB and NFS. Well I know that SMB means Samba but I wonder how would some linux newbie would felt after reading this....

Will next year be finally Linux Desktop year?

Well I don't think so. Last couple of year we all saw big headlines of Linux evangelist saying next year will be "that year" for Linux, etc. And this year is no different :)

Here is a nice article that shows how easy is to create custom Live CD/DVD Linux distribution. I always now that there are tools for creating custom Linux distribution but I never guess that this is so easy :). So this will work for Ubutnu and Linux Mint and you will need Remastersys tool. Here are steps:

Well there are more than one good news from yesterday and couple a days ago so I have decided to put them all in one post :)
